Animal Flower Cave, Saint Lucy Parish

4.1
#2 of 10 in Nature in Barbados
Explore the only accesible sea cave on Barbados, Animal Flower Cave, named after the sea anemones that inhabit its pools. Discovered in 1780 by English explorers who were sailing in the area, the cave features a coral floor that's more than 400,000 years old. Descend the coral steps, built in 1912, that lead down through the cave's roof. From there you may admire the cave's rock formations that differ in color due to oxidation. View the vibrant sea anemone, swim in the deep pool in the chamber, or take in ocean views from the mouth of the cave.
