Silver Pagoda, Phnom Penh

3.5
#4 of 10 in Historic Sites in Phnom Penh
Located on the south side of the city's royal palace complex, Silver Pagoda houses a collection of national relics, including Buddha statues made of gold, jade, and other valuable materials. Founded in the 19th century, the silver-floored pagoda houses no monks, but serves as a depository of 1,650 artifacts mostly given to the royal family as presents. As you approach the front of the throne, notice the large golden Buddha statue adorned with a staggering 2,086 diamonds and weighing 90 kg (200 lb). Please note that the Silver Pagoda is included in admission to the Royal Palace. • The complex right next to the Royal Palace is very large and very well maintained. But in the case of the large hall with the floor made of silver plates (almost everything - understandable white - covered with carpet). Nothing really mega worth seeing. So only if you really visit that stands.

  • I was walking by the river walk and saw this building. It was very distinct and it belonged to part of the Grand Palace. It has a beautiful structure.  more »
