Must see · Ruin · Religious Site
Founded at the turn of the 13th century by Khmer emperor Jayavarman VII, Ta Prohm remains untouched and well preserved, largely owing to its status as a World Heritage Site. The temple, first established as a Buddhist monastery and university, stood abandoned for centuries, during which silk-cotton trees and strangler figs pushed out of its foundations and grew upward, burying the stone buildings in tangles of exposed roots. The ruins include hundreds of statues to various gods, former monks' residences, and stone towers, all intertwined with tree roots in an unforgettable visual effect. Parts of the trails that run through the temple are dark or impassable; use a map or follow a guide to stay on track. • This is a stunning temple with the strangler figs winding all over the structure, felt quite surreal to be here. Such a famous place as tomb raider was filmed here. Photos we took are awesome  more »

  • One of my favorites of all times. I've been visiting it already 4 times and still not enough. Remote and quiet. If you're lucky and get there later in the evening you'll meet the tranquility and mysterious voices from the jungle which is trying to swallow this amazing temple of Ta Phrom. Beautiful architecture. They've started with some renovations there so some buildings are under construction.
  • Amazing. The jungle has reclaimed this temple. It's absolutely fantastic. So many great photo opportunities. It's really, really beautiful and absolutely worth visiting. Yes, it's the Tomb Raider temple, so it's always busy and hard to get some of the best shots because people are always posing in those spots but with patience, I managed to get all the shots I wanted. A wide angle lens is a massive advantage here, as some of the trees on too of the temples are extremely tall.
