Tough review to write: I used to love this place and now I’m feeling quite disappointed about it all – poor costumer service, untrained staff, fragmented service, and lower value for money. So I... more »
One of my fave spas ever! It’s all in the details. They have many unique rooms. Food was good. Smoothies not good. Can’t wait to see it in the summer! more »
I have been to Balnea multiple times, and I love most things about it. The setting is beautiful, and the spa services I have received have been great. We drive over 4 hours to go there, and I have recommended it to many over the past few years. However, the check in and check out processes are absolutely painful, including this very last time, which was on Saturday Oct 19. Not sure if the person was new, but she initially couldn't find our reservation, then asked the same questions 2-3 times, and then gave us conflicting information. Language could have been a barrier, so it would be helpful to have someone who could better help those coming from the US. Check out was even worse! You have to wait in the same line as the people checking in. Given the discounted entry fee after a specific time there were lots of people checking in. So, after a nice long massage and a hot shower, you are waiting outside (line was out the door) in the cold, while you wait to check out. The relaxation that you paid a lot of money for goes right out the door. Probably would make sense to have a quicker check out process. Maybe a separate line? Also, even though they have the credit card on file that you use when you make the reservation, you have to present a card again (make sure you don't forget to bring that in). It would be so much faster to check out if they could just charge that. I would also add more "whisper areas", as those are the busiest since most people would like to exchange a few words with the person or people they're with.
One of the nicest spas in the eastern township of Montreal, it’s about 45min to 1 hour away from the city and is totally worth the drive. The grounds are amazing, there are many different baths and steam rooms and sauna. The food is very good, you can even treat yourself to champagne or wine. Every time I’ve had a massage they were great. The decor and ambiance is perfect. Definitely a spa to check out.
