Eglise Saint-Nazaire, Carcassonne Center

4.4
A basilica minor and a national monument, Eglise Saint-Nazaire houses some of the most famous stained glass in the south of France. Historians believe the Visigoths built the original church on this site in the sixth century. The new cathedral was completed in the 12th century. The Gothic interior architecture and decorations include alternating round and square support pillars, the Saint-Pierre Vault, additional vaults with a Scandinavian influence, and the tomb of Bishop Radulphe. • Inside the medieval fortress of Cit' de Carcassonne (the residential area of Carcassonne France 2500 years of history, a UNESCO World Heritage Site) there is even the Basilica of Saints of Nazaria and Celucia the year of the founding of 1100, here was the Pope. I am very glad that I was able to visit these places

  • Have visited this church during our visit to the Cité de Carcassonne. A beautiful church and worth a visit. Sit quietly on a church bench and take a quiet look around you. Also look upwards, then you see that the church originates from 2 construction periods. However, it is advisable to be quiet. The fire painted windows are very nice.

  • If you are in the Cite de Carcassonne, don't miss visiting this church. It is small but quite stunning. Great stained glass. Sometimes concerts are held in the church.
  • A must-see while visiting the amazing environment of the Carcassonne castle.
