Chapelle du Petit Saint Ceneri, Saint-Ceneri-le-Gerei

Chapelle du Petit Saint Ceneri is a commune in the Orne department next to the River Sarthe and boasts itself as one of France’s most beautiful villages. You will love taking a stroll and exploring this tranquil area of France, dotted with traditional housing, farms, and green fields.

Chapelle du Petit Saint Ceneri is named after an Italian hermit who lived here during the 8th century. When he died, a monastery was built and later destroyed by the Vikings in 903. A castle was also built here in 1044, of which only parts of the walls remain today. Be sure to ask for the way to these fascinating ruins, some of the greatest pieces of history around. • In a very pretty village, a small well-decorated chapel, notably with a cross path carved by a local artist.

  • Very pretty chapel that dominates the village inside the paintings made by painters and this path of the cross made by a village artist. If you pass in the Alps Mancelles made a detour to visit this small village and this church.
