The Sándor Palace is located in Budapest, Hungary.
It is the official residence of the President of Hungary, and the seat of the Office of the President. It has served as both since 2003. Sándor Palace is the 37th biggest palace in present-day Hungary.
The palace is situated at Szent György tér 1-2 in Buda, immediately north of the Buda Castle complex, which was the former residence of the kings and governors of Hungary.
19th centuryThe original Neoclassical style palace was begun about 1803, and completed about 1806. Count Vincent Sándor commissioned it, and it was named after him. Count Vincent Sándor was a philosopher and aristocrat in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. His son Móric Sándor was better known in Budapest and Vienna, from fame for acrobatic jousts.
The palace then next belonged to Archduke Albrecht, the Imperial Governor of Hungary, until the failed Hungarian Revolution of 1848. After that the palace and its adjacent buildings facing the square were rented as government offices.
Prime MinistersThe most prestigious tenant was the Hungarian Prime Minister Gyula Andrássy, who in 1867 leased it for the Hungarian government from the Pallavicini family. He would later obtain ownership of the palace following a property swap.

  • The Palace of the President of the Hungarian Republic is quite anonymous and strikes as not particularly fenced. Next to the police who supervise it there are also military sentinels that real estate occupy the Garitte, if you're lucky to get to the stroke of the hour you can watch the change of the guard with drum roll and ceremonial that looks like a Group Balllo with shotgun. Nice

  • It was a few minutes from Buda Castle, and now the presidential palace was guarded by the guards. If you put a straight ruler on the Szecheni chain Bridge and draw a line to the straight, you will be connected to this palace.

  • The beautifully renovated neoclassical building is the office of the President of Hungarian Republic. Easy to approach using the bus 16. It is not open for the wide public and tourists. But you can enjoy the regular change of guards with drumbeat. It is recommended when you go to the Castle District. The Castle District entrance is free of charge.
  • I could not believe, I was walking as a regular tourist in front of the Official Residence of the President of Hungary. In the Philippines, you can not walk in front of the Malacanang Palace just like that. Since this country is peaceful and no threats, you can only see one guard smiling at you. For a tourist like me, you will feel that you are in a safe and peaceful place. I hope, our country is like this. So I enjoyed my whole day tour around the complex. 5 stars. Approved!
