At National Gallery of Modern Art, inspect a collection of more than 14,000 works of Indian modern art. Established in 1954 by the government, the museum resides in a building that was initially home of Jaipur's maharajas. Explore the gallery, which houses splendid collections of paintings by artists such as Abanindranath Tagore, Rabindranath Tagore, Gaganendranath Tagore, and Raja Ravi Varma, as well as foreign artists including Thomas Daniell and his nephew William. The works range from mid-18th century up through the early 20th century. If you like old paintings. This place is good. A person also gives a guided tour if enough participants are there. 3 floors with different styles of paintings of different era. Some of them are really grand.Delhi has many museums and galleries but the National Gallery of Modern Art is among the top ones to visit in the city. Ticket is nominal. Around 50 per person.
Of the many flagship MoMA galleries I’ve visited around the world this one stands out primarily for one reason. Its artworks are the most accessible I’ve seen. This absence of roped-off areas distancing the viewer from its masterpieces brings with it a genuinely rewarding perspective. The galleries 4 floors chart a chronology of Indian creative endeavour from the beginning of the colonial era, through Independence, to the 21st century. Here you will find some of India’s giants and discover others you never heard of. Thoroughly engaging and memorable. No visit to Delhi is complete without a day here
