Visit Tirta Empul Temple, an interesting Hindu place of worship built around a natural spring. Located directly by a water source and with a main building surrounded by a bathing structure, worshipers enter the holy water to be ritually purified. The rustic structures, flowing water, bathing devotees, and surrounding forest complement one another to create an inspiring and unusual sight. Remember to bring your camera to capture it. Tirta Empul Temple is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Tampaksiring Edition.

There are a lot of people. The magic of the site is spoiled by instagrammers who go into the pools just to get THE photo! 50000IDR entry. The visit is done quite quickly.

We had the opportunity to do the rite of purification as the Balinese do and it was a very rewarding moment. Nevertheless, fortunately for us we were almost there at the opening (9:30)... because by the time we came out of the pool, we could observe the crowd starting to arrive and it certainly spoils the experience which could be really beneficial and pleasant with a little calm (especially when one is a believer). The crowd makes it impossible to get to the crowd in search of serenity, too much noise, camera of all kinds,.... even very early there were a lot of people taking pictures, behaving a little rough in such a cult place, etc. but at least we had a little quiet and we could still enjoy it. Experience to be done with a lot of tolerance...
We visited on a full moon festival and found it quite busy, however a lovely place to visit. A small donation for a guided tour was well worth the while as the explanation of the fountains was informative. It was a little off putting the fact that you have to walk past about 200 street stalls @ the exit in order to get to the car park. Pretty good tourist attraction though and a nice bit of Bali.
You better prepare clothes for changing as you can bathe here. Good ambience, lots of tourists but I could still feel the calm atmosphere. There are certain prohibited area and we have to show some respect for this sacred place. Good for taking photos, large parking area. It will be better to come with modest clothing although they provide sarong there.
