Beautiful naturally is this Chapel frescoed by Giotto, speechless the Majesty and stunning color. Pity about the weather really reduced, we hadn't even finished to hear the sound of the headset. We got out in a hurry! I understand that so you bring more people (and therefore more money) but could use some more minutes to gaze calmly this Italian Marvel.

I went back after many years since your last visit. It is quite clear that, for those who love art, and I say this for many Italians, rather than travel to exotic locations or in strange places abroad. This must be the place that must be visited at least once in their lifetime.

  • As all the art history books will tell you. this is an important milestone in the development of Western art, progressing from the work of Giotto's teacher Cimabue. You get to see the early stages of emotional representation, perspective and a realistic architectural space, as opposed to the flatter, unemotional world of Byzantine icons that had set the template previously. If you have booked the chapel, it might initially seem rather expensive for a 15 minute visit. Which it would be, but that ticket does also include the considerably more extensive complex where the ticket hall is situated. That includes archaeological finds from the Roman period, right through to examples of local Paduan painters a few centuries after Giotto. As many other reviewers have said, it's a shame you only get 15 minutes to take in Giotto's masterpiece in the chapel, because that is not enough time to look at it properly. However, I can understand it's necessary for preservation of a fragile work of art. If you are claustrophobic, then be aware that you have to sit in a room (albeit with glass walls) for around 20 minutes before you can enter, in order to remove humidity. They show a video about the chapel to pass the time.
  • A classic work of art of historical importance but difficult to appreciate due to time constraints imposed by the museum (15min only). Also includes 15 minute documentary in Italian with English and German subtitles which goes over some details of the history. Tickets also valid for visits to other museums in the area including a pinacoteca, archeological museum, and Civic museum.
  • Stunning place. Fantastic preservation efforts. B
  • Wonderful and unique fresco from Giotto.Amazing 3 dimensional images and the popular fresco of hell. It is too bad that the visits are limited to 15 minutes
  • A masterpiece of painting, maybe one of the best of all time. There is a specific procedure to visit the Capella to protect the place against overcrowding which makes reservation of visit necessary. Also visit the other museums in the area as accessible via same ticket. Recommended +++.
