MAG Museo Alto Garda, Riva Del Garda

Il MAG Museo Alto Garda comprende il Museo di Riva del Garda, affacciato sulle acque del lago, e la Galleria Civica G. Segantini di Arco, sita alle pendici del castello che domina la valle del Sarca.

Nelle due sedi del MAG, storia e archeologia, arte e contemporaneità dialogano in un reciproco confronto il cui esito è il prodotto di una ricerca che guarda al proprio patrimonio per interpretare il presente e il futuro.

La Rocca di Riva del Garda, antico castello medievale a specchio sul lago, ospita il Museo, sede rivana del MAG Museo Alto Garda, con le sue tre sezioni permanenti - archeologia, pinacoteca e storia - e gli spazi riservati alle mostre temporanee, volte ad approfondire in chiave contemporanea il patrimonio storico-artistico indagato dal Museo stesso.

La Galleria Civica G. Segantini, sede arcense del MAG Museo Alto Garda, è sita nel Palazzo dei Panni, edificato da Giovambattista d’Arco verso la fine del Seicento.

Intitolata al pittore divisionista Giovanni Segantini (Arco, 1858 - Schafberg, 1899), la Galleria si configura come uno spazio permanente dedicato alle sue opere e intende contribuire a valorizzare la città di Arco quale luogo segantiniano attraverso l'attività espositiva e di ricerca.

The MAG Museo Alto Garda (or Upper Garda Museum) is comprised of the Museum of Riva del Garda, which looks directly onto the lake itself, and the G. Segantini City Gallery in Arco, standing at the foot of the Castle Mount which dominates the entire Sarca valley.

In the two venues of the MAG Museo Alto Garda, history and archaeology, art and the contemporary world converse via a mutual exchange to offer an approach which valorises our own heritage with the aim of better interpreting both the present and the future.

The Rocca of Riva del Garda, an ancient medieval castle standing on the lakeside, is home to the headquarters of Museum and the Riva venue of the MAG Museo Alto Garda, with its three permanent sections – archaeology, the picture gallery and historical works – and spaces for temporary exhibitions, aimed at offering a contemporary interpretation of the historic and artistic heritage in the Museum’s possession.

The Galleria Civica G. Segantini, the Arco venue of the MAG Museo Alto Garda, is to be found in Palazzo dei Panni, built by Giovambattista d’Arco towards the end of the 17th century. Bearing the name of the divisionist painter Giovanni Segantini (Arco, 1858 – Schafberg, 1899), the Gallery features a permanent space dedicated to the works of the artist. It intends to serve as a research centre within a virtual network made up of the main institutions housing the works of Segantini and those scholars who have studied the artist.

  • 3 floors of interesting history, paintings, pictures, guns and much more, everything explained by panels. It takes not less than 1 hour if you want to give attention to everything!!!
  • Worth a visit if you've got time to spare. Some art and some permanent exhibitions and changing displays. I enjoyed the exhibits about life during WW1. Worth making effort to roof terrace. Not many interactive displays 😐
