  • A beautiful route to take along the magnificent high Pusteria Valley! The 45 km long route is very simple and satisfying where small straps contrast to long and fast descents along beautiful woods along the sparkling Drava! A part of the route runs along the dirt road (from what I could understand a part of the bike path was taken away from the Drava during the climate events last autumn) but nevertheless there are no problems of any kind. Of course, it is more than recommended to stop at the Loacker with access directly from the bike path where you can enjoy some great sweets as well as stock up on wafers in the nearby shop. Service notes: pay attention to cyclists who can speed near you (unfortunately there are also those who think they are in a circuit) and pay attention to the long descents where in an instant you gain remarkable speed! Last tip: the cost of boarding the bike on the train at Lienz and the cost of returning the bike to your renter always at the station in Lienz is pretty much the same so I recommend this second option not to have the bike between your feet and to be able to enjoy a trip lie in beautiful Lienz!

  • Many of friends and acquaintances had told me well about this bike path that unites San Candido in Lienz and so, taking advantage of a few days of vacation, my wife and I wanted to try it with hand. We left San Candido immediately after renting the bikes (the rentals in the area offer bikes of all kinds, from city-bikes to moutainbikes, electric, with hanging cart for the little ones or the camel hump for the bigger ones) and right from the start the panorama of Southern Tyrol enveloped us and accompanied us throughout the journey. Surely you will waste time taking some photos, to visit the Loacker plant. Along the bike path you can find various attractions that will fill the day. I recommend for those who have the opportunity not to have this experience on the most popular days of August because the turnout would make the experience less beautiful. Keep in mind that even the least bike enthusiasts can cycle, as it is for a good 80% downhill and the few climbs are really very bland. The route itself is 44 km long and the travel time is 2 or 3 hours without stops so you can do it comfortably in half a day, but my advice is to spend all day to enjoy the various attractions that you meet along the way and of course toast king with a beer once they arrive in the center of Lienz. The lazy ones can get back on the train by loading the bikes or leaving them at the station at the stations of the renters of San Candido. Recommended experience for all.
