Ca' Rezzonico, Venice

4.5
#3 of 52 in Museums in Venice
After years of renovations and changing ownership, Ca' Rezzonico> became a public museum in 1936. A Venetian patrician family named Bon commissioned the palazzo, though they never saw it completed. The skeleton of the unfinished palazzo was bought by Giambattista Rezzonico, who wrapped up the project and gave the interior the opulent decor you see today. The frescoes painted on the state room ceilings are the best-preserved in all of Venice. American songwriter Cole Porter partied underneath these same frescoes when he rented the palazzo for $4,000 a month in the 1920s. In 1935, the attraction was handed over to the city and became a venue for displaying 18th-century art among the sumptuous furnishings. • We enjoyed strolling over to the Ca' Rezzonico one morning to see the lovely building & rooms. Nice area, and it wasn't crowded.  more »
  • Beautiful Palace xviii with these paintings, sculptures, paintings of Jouy! also has a very nice art gallery, pretty rich of paintings which complement those of the Palace (mythological, Biblical theme and stage of life or landscape in Venice)

  • Beautiful, specially the palace. The canvas expo for the lovers.I recommend to pick the combined ticket with other visits.
  • Nice museum showcasing period furnishings and a small collection of art
  • Climb up to the top (of get the elevator) to enjoy nice view of Venice (and paintings).
  • Lower key than St. Mark's square or Scuole di San Rocco, it's still a great place to visit. Beautiful historic house with lovely paintings, frescoes, furniture & crafts. Nice top floor art gallery. My family really enjoyed it. Only giving it 4 stars because it's not 'hit you over the head' spectacular.
  • A fantastic palace & museum. The palace on the first floor is wonderful. The collections of art on the next two levels are also incredible in their own right. Definitely pace yourself as there is a lot to see.

Where to stay in Venice

Save money and avoid tourist crowds by booking your accommodation outside the historical center of Venice. Central Venice is full of picturesque canals and narrow lanes, but it is also extremely noisy and hectic throughout the day and late into the night. You can explore the ancient city's charms at your own pace by staying at a comfortable B&B or small hotel located in the city's residential suburbs. To stay close to the finest beaches and restaurants, check into a hotel on the island of Lido, the city's famous seaside resort.
