  • It is a Zen temple of the Soto sect located at the foot of Mt. Ohbo in the east area of JR Ashikaga Station. It was founded in the latter half of the Muromachi period and in a single painting of the Hitachi nation, and was destroyed in the war ring of the Sengoku period, and follows the history of the reconstruction to the present location in the middle of the Edo period. Kenshin Uesugi cooperated a great deal in rebuilding. The temple area is a vast natural park that combines the forest behind the precincts to 10,000 tsubo, and is open to the public as a place of relaxation and the entrance to the Mt. Ohbo hiking trail. In the vicinity of the main hall, there are historical sites such as the Statue of Dogen Zen master Shodono, the Saizuka group, and the reservoir that was once built for irrigation and waterproofing. At the beginning of August, the temple gate will be lit up and an outdoor concert will be held around Tameike.
