  • Very awesome. Impressive to say the least and set amongst a cedar forest. Certainly a must. Costs 1100 to enter shrine but well worth it. Could spend days looking at all the detail. Plus it's well worth giving a nod to the Tokugawa main mab
  • I visited quite a lot of temples and shrines in Japan and this one is in my top 3 for sure. Its dedicated to the last Shogun of Japan! Its very different to all the others due to the gold elements and finish. There are a few different places/rooms to visit, so make sure you don't rush your visit and have at least 90 minutes to walk around and explore. The main shrine building is obviously the most impressive, but the building with the dragon murals is not far behind! There is also an interesting area at the top of the hill, but it's about 300 steps to get up there! There are also some other shrines nearby, but they are not worth visiting.
