Take a break from your New Zealand adventure at Polynesian Spa, where you can bathe in mineral pools or relax with a luxury beauty treatment. Local Maoris recognized the therapeutic benefits of these waters centuries ago. Europeans discovered the springs in the 1870s, when a Catholic priest realized regular baths in the thermal waters greatly alleviated his arthritis. The first official bathhouse opened in 1882, and the site quickly became one of the area's major tourist draws. The modern facility now features secluded private pools, family areas, and shallow mineral baths with views of Lake Rotorua. • We tested the 2 service proposals of this spa. 1st time: the "mainstream" side with swimming pools at different temperatures. Clean, quiet, but very busy, sometimes with whole groups of tourists (mostly Asian). We had asked for an extra 1/2 hour in a private spa. Nice, small pool locked in a cabin, with no view. 2nd time: the "private" side, with a 1/2 hour massage in The Rotorua mud and hot water spray (top). 1/2 hour of private spa with lake views (great), then all-you-can-eat access to the beautiful stone pools, with sunbeds and tea or fresh water at will too. So there is something for all the scholarships and all the desires. Very welcome.

  • Beautiful, clean hot pools. It is worth paying the extra compared to other local hot pools. Well maintained. Clean changing rooms. Our kids loved it. Even great on a rainy day as semi-covered.
  • Tourist attraction worth visiting while in Rotorua. Go early in the morning as soon as they open for a private relaxed experience minus the tourist crowds. Would recommend Deluxe lake spa out of all the different packages.
