#87 of 471 in Things to do in Oslo
Admire the public sculpture of She Lies while visiting the harbor in Oslo. Created by Italian artist Monica Bonvinci in 2007, the figure sits on a floating platform in the fjord, several feet above the surface. As a recreation of the painting "Sea of Ice," the sculpture captures the look and feel of a jagged iceberg sitting in the fjord. When viewing the sculpture, you'll notice the water reflecting off the sculpture's glass panels. Get the best views of the landmark from the roof of the opera house. It's impressive any time of day, but sunset here yields the best photo ops. Make She Lies a centerpiece of your Oslo vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Oslo trip itinerary site.

  • She Lies is a public sculpture by Monica Bonvicini made of stainless steel and glass panels measuring approximately 12 metres by 17 metres by 16 metres next to the Oslo Opera House, in Norway. It is a permanent installation, floating on the water in the fjord on a concrete platform, rising 12 metres above the water surface. The sculpture turns on its axis in line with the tide and wind, offering changing experiences through reflections from the water and its transparent surfaces.
