View three actual Viking ships, the Soeberg, the Gokstad, and the Tune, and learn more about their history at Viking Ship Museum. The ships were built between 800 and 900, and were excavated in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Displays give information on how they were found and preserved. The Tune ship was the first Viking ship to be unearthed and remains the third best-preserved ship in the world. Also, see the artifacts that were buried with each ship, such as carts, sleds, cooking gear, and more. Be sure to climb up into the designated viewing areas that allow you to see each ship from a different perspective and fully appreciate their size. If you have your smartphone with you, you can scan the barcodes associated with the exhibits to receive more detailed information online.
