Pescador Island, Moalboal

4.4
At the picturesque volcanic outcrop of Pescador Island, you'll find a huge amount of marine life, from shoals of sardines thousands strong, to roaming sea turtles. The island's name translates as "fisherman" from Spanish, due to its long-standing reputation as a fishing spot among the locals and the Philippines' Spanish colonial history. With the calm, clear, and temperate waters harboring more than 2,500 species of fish, it has now become a renowned diving spot and a protected marine park. Diving here, you can explore a plunging coral sea wall populated by various creatures throughout the depths. White tip sharks lurk in the deeper waters, while colorful tropical species frequent the coral of the shallows. Look out for the famous subaquatic volcanic formation known as the "the Cathedral," an open-top cavern which offers exciting exploration opportunities for divers.
