Blood Compact Monument, Tagbilaran City

Blood Compact Monument commemorates the first international treaty of friendship between Filipinos and Spaniards. The blood compact, or sandugo, took place as part of a tribal tradition in 1565 to seal the friendship between the two nations. The statues depict celebrated Basque-Spanish navigator Miguel Lopez de Legazpi, who arrived in Cebu just before the treaty, and Rajah Sikatuna, lord of Bohol, as well as several witnesses present on that momentous day. In addition to historical significance, the monument offers views of the Bohol Sea. • Just another historical monument. Just for group picture and selfies. Just to see the blood compact and nothing else to do but to buy some souvenirs.  more »

  • When we visited Bohol, this place was our first stop. In my second visit too. If you're using travel agency you can opt to skip this because there's nothing really to see except a statue with historical background. If you're into History, then maybe it'll be good to stop by. There's a nice sea view but it was covered.
  • Nice statue. A real touristic spot. Also you will find some souvenir sellers. The souvenirs about some touristic places in Bohol are here cheaper than on the place it self. Nice place to make some pictures. It is not to far from the city center, you can go there easy by tricycle.
