Trip Planner: Europe / Spain / Andalucia / Province of Malaga / Costa del Sol / Nerja / Fundación Cueva de Nerja
Discover prehistoric life in the underground world of Fundación Cueva de Nerja. Stretching almost 5 km (3.1 mi), the caves are a long series of caverns comprised of eight rooms and two main entrances. Tour the main lobby to see human artifacts and remains found in the caves. In the Elephant Tusk chamber, admire the impressive stalactite and stalagmite formations. Attend a concert in the 600-seat natural amphitheater of the Cascade room. The caves are accessible by car or bus, but a relaxing walk along the coast is another way to return to Nerja. Stunning and beautiful wonder under the earth. Intriguing other worldliness of the wonderland under the earth. I am scared of heights and at times the caves are 30 metres deep but the paths are wide a... more »
Definitely recommend this place. We managed to get the free EU citizen entries for the 9:30am slot. Had to book well in advance to get the limited free slots and be on time. Being so early had the benefits of less crowd as the first slots start usually around 9:50. Would recommend buying audio guide. Also good to combine this trip with the nearby popular beach where you can do kayaking too.
Such a great place to visit and discover. One will be amazed at the enormity of the underground structure and the caves themselves. It’s an adventure for the whole family. Be aware that it’s a steep climb down and back up. The guide was very informative and friendly. They kept us moving and exploring as we walked in awe. Visit for the history and adventure. You won’t regret it.
