Standing proudly in the middle of the city, Catedral de Mallorca is a Gothic building with sandstone walls and flying buttresses that seemingly rise right out of the sea. Dominating over its surroundings, the building is 121 m (397 ft) long and 55 m (180 ft) wide and was constructed on a massive scale. Designed in the Catalan Gothic style, with numerous Northern European elements, the cathedral was begun in 1229 on the site of a pre-existing mosque, but finished only in 1601. Famed architect Antoni Gaudí participated in a renovation project at the beginning of the 20th century. Managing to complete only a few of his grand ideas, Gaudí quarreled with the contractors, then suddenly abandoned the project. Nevertheless, this vast cathedral remains a major architectural landmark well worth visiting. • Over 300 hundred years in the making and it still looks fantastic, Apparently 300 years after completion Mr Gaudí was asked to give it an upgrade and after 12 years of indecision was sacked, love...  more »
  • It is a very nice place. I know this Covid has turned us upside down. But the entrance to the cathedral is charged at € 8 as if you had a guide accompanying you, I think that to promote culture it...  more »

  • Lovely cathedral. Worth visiting inside. We didn't buy tickets online, just waited at the door and purchased them. Went on a Tuesday at 1pm and the line was only a couple minutes long. €8 pp. There's a free toilet inside as well. If you drive there's a parking garage off the highway next to the water. You exit right by the fountain and then can walk up to the cathedral and take in the view. There's a lot of tourist trap stuff there but no one in your face. The view on the way up is worth it and it's not much of a climb. We ended walking around the center after so overall about 3 hours of parking cost about €7.30. There's a machine you have to pay before you get to your car so take your ticket with you.
  • So big and beautiful! Get the audio guide if you want a more comprehensive tour. It was only an hour long. The outside was amazing! And some interesting artistic choices inside. There's a modern piece inside this centuries old church that makes you look twice and applaud the forward thinkers. And the Gaudí altar piece.. wow
