  • If you have some free time do not skip this delightful park... Inside there will be plenty of elephants (we saw whole families drinking in the small streams), and then peacocks, and monkeys in the race quantity. A really nice tour.

  • Minneria National Park is a national park in the northern central province of Sri Lanka. On 12 August 1997, the area was named a national park, originally declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1938. Well and now actually about the excursion. The whole excursion is a safari on the territory of the park on Jeeps. And only on Jeeps-to go out and to roam on territory independently it is forbidden. • Absolutely horrible. This is one of the most UNETHICAL and ABUSIVE thing you can do as tourists. There are no rules here. There are masses of jeeps crowding around the poor elephants all day long. They literally chase them and corner them in to get close enough so all the tourists are happy. They drive off of the roads into the grass to get close. The elephants are truly scared and running away. So cold hearted how this institution can allow people to invade the sacred home of these beautiful animals JUST FOR MONEY! This could be a great experience if there were simple rules such as how many jeeps allowed in at a time and a set distance that jeeps must stay away. STAY FAR AWAY. We need to be more responsible and empathetic human beings and TOURISTS!
  • A must place to visit if you are travelling to Sri Lanka. It's about 5 hour drive from Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka. If you are elephant lover this is one of the best places to see and feed elephants. There are lots of travel operators from Colombo who would take you there. Also there are plenty of safari style 4-wheel drive tour operators in the area. Quite safe and friendly local people. But as always be mindful of your surroundings and your belongings.
