#1 of 19 in Nature in Southern Province
Embark on a safari into Yala National Park, Sri Lanka’s most popular national park and a bustling wildlife sanctuary, housing an array of wild animals. The second largest national park in the country, it boasts one of the highest densities of leopards in the world, so if you’re lucky you might spot this elusive predator. Driving through the semi-arid plains and grasslands, you'll almost certainly encounter elephants, sloth bears, macaque monkeys, water buffalo, and a variety of other animal species. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Tissamaharama holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Yala National Park and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

We (family with three kids of 12, 13 and 16) afternoon safari in Yala Osha Safari. What a great experience. The driver knows the way in the park. We have elephants, crocodiles, water buffalo, monkeys, wild boars, deer, various birds and to cap it all, twice the rare Leopard. An unforgettable experience. You definitely have to do if you're in Tissa.

Most people come here for the Leopard, but to be able to see, you must be happiness. A wild beast is finally not be tamed. Furthermore, there are several other wild animals but that you see further also in other parks though. Like almost all Government controlled is also here the entrance price will be high. Many jeeps in the park making it probably busier than as in the Centre of the village (and there you can also see not much wild). Safari in Sri Lanka sets compared to safaris in other countries are not common in combination with the crowds and expensive price is the total picture.

Nothing to do with the African Safari parks, where you can see animals in the herd and walk hours without crossing other tourists, but still a pleasant day in the Jeep between the forest looking for animals and wild places to photograph. Easily meet elephants, crocodiles, deer, Warthogs, Buffalo mongooses monkeys ... and many birds. The most popular animal is the Leopard and if you find him (we were "lucky") expect to glimpse among a swarm of jeeps that compete to find the best position. The places are lovely and nature offers breathtaking scenery pleasant was lunch eaten on a dedicated area with ocean and offered Sinhalese style by our guides.
