  • Stretching over a land of 30,821 hectares, Udawalawe National Park is famous for its large population of elephants. Hence, this national park is ideal to observe the herds of marvelous Asian elephants in their unique natural habitats. It is known that about 400 elephants in total are sustaining here while about 250 of them are considered as permanently resident.
  • Nice park where you can see a lot of elephants very close. Apart from elephants you can see buffaloes, peacocks, eagles and some other birds. If your safari driver is attentive, he will stop and show you small animals like lizards and geckos. Crocodiles are also there, but are usually hiding in water. Also there are some nice views over mountains in distance
  • Beautiful national park. You'll see a lot of wild life and stunning nature. Also very good for bird watching due to the damn which caused a partially flooding of the forest. Very good to see there's still protected nature in those regions!
  • Udawalawe was a great experience. I do think that in every safari (this was my first) your driver/guide is very important. Everyone can drive trough the park and point out elephants. But our driver knew a lot about birds and other small elephants as well. That made it a very good trip!
  • Udawalawe National Park, one of the best places to spot wild elephants. You'll be able to witness hundreds of Elephants here without any doubt. If your lucky enough you can also witness few wild cats.
