  • I brought my granddaughter to Basel Zoo, despite her three times a year goes with parents to visit the Zoo. Almost every year they do something new, bottled water was included in 2016 have expanded the Department of elephants, the work is completed in 2017. Advise visitors to the Zoo, take a full day, there is the restorante.chi want there are benches so to sit and be able to eat sandwiches is drinks alone

  • We spent a day at this zoo my husband, our little girl of one year and I. That's nice!!! Very well maintained and cared ... we had lunches so we tasted no food ... was very pleasant, even our little girl was enchanted especially from fish, from giraffes and penguins!

  • Basel's English Dentist, Dr Garry Bonsall, dental surgeon, loves and recommends Basel Zoli: "my favorite Zoo", says Garry
  • It is a very nice and "green" zoo, it is really like walking in a botanical garden, but with animals, I'm just always afraid when pasing by the Lions ( since there is a very small fence), 😱
  • A great Zoo. Some ways are a little small when you have a buggy. The underwater area gives a lot to see. And there is a big restaurant. It's a very beautiful Zoo. But for a family with two kids, you need more than 100 francs for a visit.
  • Very old and renowned Zoo always something new excellent place to visit
  • Really clean and well maintained zoo. Great for family s. The indoor sections make it a fun visit even on rainy days.

Where to stay in Basel

Business-oriented Basel offers an overwhelming amount of mid-range hotels catering to its business clientele. The city fills up during conferences and events, so be sure to plan accordingly. There are a number of guesthouses and bed and breakfasts too, but they tend to be pretty pricey. You'll find a handful of budget-friendly hostels just south of the city core. Keep in mind that as you move toward the outskirts of town for affordable accommodation, proximity to the train stations will be key. The good news is that a number of the hotels include public transport passes with the cost of a room.
