Fondation Beyeler, Riehen

4.3
Fondation Beyeler operates the museum that owns and exhibits the art collection of the late Ernst and Hildy Beyler. The husband-and-wife couple amassed a large collection of modern classics during their lifetimes. A highlight of the museum is the collection of 23 pieces by Pablo Picasso; the museum also features works by Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, and Andy Warhol. The Beyelers created the foundation and museum to house their substantial art collection and provide public access to the pieces. The museum's glazed building sits nestled in Berowerpark, where special exhibits periodically take place. • The building is beautiful, the garden also but from the reception, you feel like a malaise and that you will be disappointed: very pointed staff, especially do not ask a mandatory coat check, intelligence... After there is finally little works and the temporary exhibition of the moment (see other reviews) not packed me (but that's a matter of personal taste). However affecting everyone is admission to 25 FCH, is unacceptable, I also regret to be entered but we did 100 express terminals. Must democratize access to culture and the Foundation does not take this path. Too bad...!

  • Just now looking at the upcoming contemporary artists Wolfgang Tillmans exhibition for visiting Basel and went only to this museum. So was worth the interviewed asked as a tourist in General is not the environment, including building location, Museum, gardens and exhibits were great. Easy access from the city centre by tram. I on the same day, arrived at the station, the suitcase station temporary storage placed in charge (certainly 10 Swiss francs and 3 francs higher than the coin-operated lockers but had no cash, credit processing temporary storage was used. ), Including transfer to and from airport, moved to Denmark from the airport on the same day, the tram was used one day tickets. Half the Tillmans after collection exhibition, Picasso, Monet, OOO Hall, Marlene Dumas, works great none was. However, contemporary art not so much interested in somewhat bad is lovely, and seem.

  • Beautiful place with amazing charming garden . Monet exhibition should see everyone! Big rooms with great light. I recommend that gallery to art lovers
  • Excellent Museum! Do visit here when you stay in Basel for more than one day! The Monet exhibition (currently only until the end of May 2017) is the best I have seen in Europe: the museum gathered a bunch of master pieces of Monet from different museums all over the world, which cover nearly the life span of Monet. Besides, if you do not have a Museum Pass, consider some waiting time if you come and visit after 12:00, especially on Sundays. Last but not least, the building itself is also worth visiting. Oh yes, do not forget check out the garden and have a relaxed walk outside!
  • This is the least child-friendly museum I have ever visited. There is a range of random rules depending of where you are in the exhibition - children were forbidden to walk "next to walls" in some rooms, needed to be carried (but not on the shoulders because "you never know") in others. Rules were implemented by a glum staff that conveyed the all the happiness you'd expect in the waiting room of a dentist. The place has excellent light and would really benefit from reviewing its attitude toward young visitors.
  • A beautiful cultural hub that encompass all of the arts. Hosting music, design, painting, sculpture all in the surrounding gardens.
  • Visited the Monet exhibition. Was nice. Very expensive though (28€ pp).
