A gorgeous must see in Bangkok. Spent about half a day here. When I went, Jan 2020, your admission ticket gets you access to the Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha. There was a free tour in English you can sign up for which was perfect, as an American solo traveler. Lots of cool history and culture. Amazing photo ops and TONS of people!
The Grand Palace lives up to its name. A beautiful, sweeping, golden array of buildings and temples. Inside the centre of the palace is the main attraction, (there are no photos or videos to be taken). Monks, will be praying and only the Thais are allowed at the front of the monuments. Price is 500 baht per person. (25/01/2020) There are many beautiful photo spots and opportunities, as well as guided tours with multiple language options. If you get the chance you may also see some military action and marches when walking around the grounds. Make sure you are definitely covered with long trousers and shoulders covered too. They are strict and will not let you in otherwise. There are the usual people selling the elephant pants outside for 200 baht... (haggle down to 100). Before you leave the main square, definitely walk past the lovely artwork and tapestry to end your journey.
