The capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, Erbil occupies perhaps the longest-inhabited land in the world, with the earliest human settlement here possibly dating back to 5000 BCE.
On the 2nd (Sat), walk around Sami Abdulrahman Park, steep yourself in history at Erbil Citadel, and then browse the different shops at Family Mall. Keep things going the next day: stop by Bazaar, stroll around Shanadar Park, and then examine the collection at Kurdish Textile Museum.
