In the Aosta Valley bordering Switzerland and France, the medieval city of Aosta is famous for its prime skiing conditions and rich cultural history.
Take a break from the city and head to Sentiero panoramico lungo l'Orrido di Pre-Saint-Didier and Lago d'Arpy. Step off the beaten path and head to Val Veny and The Roman Aqueduct-Bridge of Pont d'Ael. Explore Aosta's surroundings by going to Santuario di Notre-Dame de Guerison (in Courmayeur) and Colle del Piccolo San Bernardo (in La Thuile). The adventure continues: let the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Collegiata dei Santi Pietro e Orso, step into the grandiose world of Castello Reale di Sarre, and take a stroll through Piazza Emile Chanoux.

Riva del Garda is a town and comune in the northern Italian province of Trento of the Trentino Alto Adige region. Kick off your visit on the 23rd (Fri): tour the pleasant surroundings at Sabbioni Beach, then take in the pleasant sights at Sentiero panoramico Busatte Tempesta, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Parish Church of Santa Maria Assunta, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Santa Barbara Church. Canazei is a comune (municipality) in Trentino in the northern Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located in the upper part of the Val di Fassa, about 110km northeast of Trento. Get outdoors at Sass Pordoi and Sentiero Viel del Pan. Explore hidden gems such as Piramidi di terra di Plata and Cascate del Pisciadu. Venture out of the city with trips to San Candido (Duomo di San Candido ''La Collegiata'' & Pista Ciclabile Val Pusteria Pusterbike) and Cascate di Cavalese (in Cavalese). There's still lots to do: don't miss a visit to Gardena Pass and admire the verdant scenery at Val de San Nicolo.

You can drive from Riva Del Garda to Canazei in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and taxi; or take a bus. In August, daily temperatures in Canazei can reach 35°C, while at night they dip to 19°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 27th (Tue) so you can drive to Merano.

Merano or Meran is a town and comune in South Tyrol, northern Italy. Take a break from the city and head to Lago Smeraldo and Vernagt am See. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Saent Waterfalls and Chiesa di San Nicolo. Go for a jaunt from Merano to Soprabolzano to see Altopiano del Renon about 56 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: take in the dramatic scenery at Partschinser Wasserfall and hike along Meran Waalrunde.
