Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
Kick off your visit on the 1st (Mon): admire the local landmark of Plaza de Armas (Plaza Mayor), thensteep yourself in history at Huaca Pucllana, and then wander the streets of Miraflores. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: get engrossed in the history at Museo Convento San Francisco y Catacumbas, shop like a local with Shopping Center Larcomar (Centro Comercial Larcomar), take an in-depth tour of Museo Larco, thenwalk around Circuito Magico Del Agua, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at San Pedro Church (Iglesia de San Pedro).

Hugging the western tip of Lake Titicaca, Puno serves as a melting pot of indigenous and imported cultures, and makes a great base for explorations around the region.
On the 5th (Fri), head off the coast to Uros Floating Islands, step off the mainland to explore Taquile Island, and then take some stellar pictures from Mirador Ing. Eduardo Sanchez. Here are some ideas for day two: contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Umayo, thenstroll the grounds of Sillustani, and then take some stellar pictures from Mirador Puma Uta.

Traveling by car from Arequipa to Puno takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a bus. Traveling from Arequipa in June, expect nights in Puno to be colder, around 24°F, while days are a bit cooler, around 65°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 6th (Sat) early enough to travel to Cusco.
