The southernmost city on the island, Galle combines colonial-era history with a tropical feel and climate.
You'll get in some beach time at Jungle Beach and Mirissa Beach. Explore hidden gems such as Tsunami Photo Museum and Shoba. Traveling by combination of taxi and flight from Kandy to Galle takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of taxi, flight, and train. In September, plan for daily highs up to 36°C, and evening lows to 30°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 1st (Mon) early enough to go by car to Trincomalee.

On the 2nd (Tue), contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Koneswaram Temple, enjoy the sand and surf at Trincomalee Beach, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Marble Beach. Keep things going the next day: kick back and relax at Nilaveli Beach, see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, and then explore the different monuments and memorials at Trincomalee War Cemetery.
