Designated a World Heritage Site in 1995, Luang Prabang sits at the meeting point of two rivers and offers numerous opportunities for sailing, climbing, and exploring scenic caves and waterfalls.
Step out of Luang Prabang with an excursion to 100 Waterfalls in Nong Khiaw--about 52 minutes away. Lying 150 km (93 mi) from Vientiane en route to Luang Prabang, and perched on the Song River, Vang Vieng attracts eco-tourists for the bizarre limestone hills surrounding the town.
