An alpine haven resting in a plush evergreen national park, Dilijan has made a name for itself as the "Armenian Switzerland." A much-loved spa town rich in culture and history, uncover the majestic 10th century monasteries, undisturbed scenic vistas, and hiking trails through undulating forest.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Hayravank Monastery and Dilijan National Park. Get out of town with these interesting Dilijan side-trips: Yenokavan (Yenokavan Canyon & Anapat Cave) and Dzoraget River (in Stepanavan). And it doesn't end there: contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Parz, see the interesting displays at Museum of Folk Art (Sharambeyan Centre of Popular Creation in Dilijan), pause for some photo ops at Dilijan Amphitheater, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Haghartsin Monastery.

Brussels, Belgium to Dilijan is an approximately 10.5-hour combination of flight and car. The time zone difference moving from Central European Time to Armenia Time is 3 hours. When traveling from Brussels in July, plan for much warmer days and a bit warmer nights in Dilijan: temperatures range from 40°C by day to 23°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Thu) to allow enough time to drive to Areni.

Areni is a village in the Vayots Dzor Province of Armenia. Start off your visit on the 10th (Fri): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Noravank Monastery, see the interesting displays at Gladzor University Historical-Cultural Museum-Reservation, explore the ancient world of Tanahati Monastery, then do a tasting at Old Bridge Winery, and finally learn about winemaking at Areni Wine Factory. Known as the source of much of the country's mineral water, the mountain spa town of Jermuk in truth quenches visitors' thirsts for much more besides.
Kick off your visit on the 12th (Sun): steep yourself in history at Gndevank Monastery, explore the ancient world of Arates Monastery, contemplate the waterfront views at Arpa River, then take in the dramatic scenery at Jermuk Waterfall, and finally contemplate the waterfront views at Dolphin Lake.
