Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Museum-lovers will appreciate Edo-Tokyo Museum and National Museum of Nature and Science. Do some cultural sightseeing at Odaiba and National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation Miraikan. Step out of Tokyo to go to Miura and see Moroiso Shores, which is approximately 1h 35 min away. There's much more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sensō-ji, find something for the whole family at Tokyo Disneyland, browse the exhibits of Tokyo National Museum, and take an in-depth tour of Fukagawa Edo Museum.

Sydney, Australia to Tokyo is an approximately 12.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train. Traveling from Sydney to Tokyo, you'll gain 1 hour due to the time zone difference. Traveling from Sydney in August, things will get much warmer in Tokyo: highs are around 36°C and lows about 28°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 5th (Mon) to allow time to travel to Numazu.

Numazu tourism focuses primarily on what lies just outside of the town, with the urban area providing a base for wider regional, natural explorations.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Mount Fuji and The Hakone Open-Air Museum. We've included these beaches for you: Otago Beach and Ita Beach. Explore Numazu's surroundings by going to Wasabi Fields of Ikadaba (in Izu) and Matsuzaki-cho (Kumi Beach & Iwachi Beach). There's more to do: explore the activities along Susono Fishing Park.

Traveling by train from Tokyo to Numazu takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. August in Numazu sees daily highs of 34°C and lows of 30°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 8th (Thu) so you can take a train to Hiroshima.

Kick off your visit on the 9th (Fri): enjoy the sand and surf at Mikasahama Beach, make a trip to Miyajima, and then steep yourself in history at Itsukushima Shrine. Keep things going the next day: see the interesting displays at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, contemplate the long history of Peace Memorial Park - Hiroshima, and then steep yourself in history at Atomic Bomb Dome.

Traveling by train from Numazu to Hiroshima takes 5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train and flight; or drive. In August, plan for daily highs up to 36°C, and evening lows to 29°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 10th (Sat) early enough to catch the train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine and Nijo Castle. Let the collections at Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts Fureaikan and Todaiji Temple Cultural Center capture your imagination. Explore Kyoto's surroundings by going to Nara (Todai-ji Temple & Nara Park) and Universal Studios Japan (in Osaka). There's lots more to do: take a stroll through Gion, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kinkaku-ji, steep yourself in history at Sanjusangendo Temple, and make a trip to Kiyomizu-dera Temple.
