Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Step out of the city life by going to Acqua e Sale - Stabilimento Balneare and Viminale. Visit Colosseum and Palatine Hill for their historical value. Get out of town with these interesting Rome side-trips: Bau Beach (in Maccarese) and Moai Beach (in Passo Oscuro). There's lots more to do: admire the landmark architecture of Pantheon, take an in-depth tour of Crypta Balbi, admire nature's wide array of creatures at Bioparco di Roma, and explore the striking landscape at Esquilino.
