Sand in Taufers is a comune mercato (market town) in South Tyrol in northern Italy.GeographyLocated about 70km northeast of Bolzano, the town centre is situated in the Tauferer Ahrntal (Taufers) valley of the Ahr river, stretching from Bruneck in Pustertal up northwards to the Venediger Group mountains of the Hohe Tauern range and the border with Austria. Get outdoors at Lago di Braies and Cascate di Riva. Explore hidden gems such as Drau Cycle Route and Lago di Dobbiaco. Get out of town with these interesting Campo Tures side-trips: Lago di Anterselva (in Anterselva di Mezzo) and La Citta vecchia di Brunico (in Brunico). There's still lots to do: explore the historical opulence of Castel Taufers.
