A coastal place of relaxation, Ibusuki stands as a hot spring resort on the southern tip of the peninsula.
On the 29th (Wed), brush up on your military savvy at Chiran Peace Museum, take in the awesome beauty at Mt. Kaimondake, and then take a memorable drive along JR Southernmost Nishioyama Station. On the next day, indulge in Japan's hot spring tradition at some of the top local onsens, kick back and relax at Fushime Coast, then look for gifts at Michi-no-Eki Iokaido, and finally examine the collection at Satsuma Denshokan.

Traveling by combination of flight and bus from Onna-son to Ibusuki takes 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can ride a ferry; or do a combination of bus, ferry, and train. Prepare for little chillier weather when traveling from Onna-son in January: high temperatures in Ibusuki hover around 12°C and lows are around 8°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 30th (Thu) early enough to travel to Matsue.

Traveling from Ibusuki in January, things will get slightly colder in Matsue: highs are around 8°C and lows about 1°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 1st (Sat) so you can travel to Ise.

You can do a combination of taxi, flight, and train from Matsue to Ise in 4.5 hours. Other options are to drive; or take a train. Traveling from Matsue in February, expect a bit warmer with lows of 7°C in Ise. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Mon) so you can travel to Ishigaki.

Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
On the 4th (Tue), kick back and relax at Yonehara Beach, then enjoy the sea views from Cape Hirakubozaki, and then enjoy breathtaking views from Tamatorizaki Observatory. On your second day here, enjoy the sand and surf at Kondoi Beach, stop by Yurateiku Market, and then find your balance on the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area.

You can do a combination of train and flight from Ise to Ishigaki in 6.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of train, bus, and flight. Traveling from Ise in February, you will find days in Ishigaki are much hotter (25°C), and nights are somewhat warmer (19°C). Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Wed) so you can travel to Miyakojima.
