Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Your day-by-day itinerary now includes JAPANiCAN - Tsukiji Outer Fish Market and Sushi Workshop as well as Sumo Museum. Get a sense of the local culture at Edo-Tokyo Museum and Takeshita Street. Let the collections at National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation Miraikan and National Museum of Nature and Science capture your imagination. Step out of Tokyo to go to Maihama and see Tokyo DisneySea, which is approximately 30 minutes away. Have a day of magic on the 1st (Wed) at Tokyo Disneyland. There's much more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sensō-ji, get a taste of the local shopping with Ginza, and take a stroll through Asakusa.

Melbourne, Australia to Tokyo is an approximately 14.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Melbourne to Tokyo. When traveling from Melbourne in March, plan for much colder days and little chillier nights in Tokyo: temperatures range from 17°C by day to 7°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 4th (Sat) to allow time to travel to Hakone-machi.

Sitting at the foot of Mount Fuji, Hakone-machi has become a popular retreat from Tokyo for locals and tourists alike.
Do some cultural sightseeing at The Hakone Open-Air Museum and Hakone Shrine / Kuzuryu Shrine Singu. There's still lots to do: explore the activities along Lake Ashi (Ashinoko) and make a splash at Hakone Kowakien Yunessun.

You can take a train from Tokyo to Hakone-machi in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. When traveling from Tokyo in April, plan for slightly colder days and about the same nights in Hakone-machi: temperatures range from 15°C by day to 13°C at night. On the 8th (Wed), you're off toOsaka.

Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan has been added to your itinerary. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Nijo Castle and Sanjusangendo Temple. Your cultural itinerary includes sights like Gion and Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Osaka: Kyoto (Hosomi Museum, Kinkaku-ji, & more), Nara (Todaiji Temple Cultural Center, Nara Park, & more) and Kiyomizu-dera Temple (in Higashiyama). Traveling by train from Tokyo to Osaka takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. In April, plan for daily highs up to 23°C, and evening lows to 12°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 13th (Mon) early enough to travel back home.
