In many ways much more Asian than American, Honolulu is Hawaii's largest city and its center of government, transportation, commerce, and tourism.
USS Arizona Memorial and Wys Galleries will appeal to museum buffs. Attractions like Waikiki Beach and Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve make great kid-friendly stops. Get out of town with these interesting Honolulu side-trips: Polynesian Cultural Center (in Laie), Pu’u O Mahuka Heiau State Monument (in Pupukea) and Kailua Beach Park (in Kailua). There's still lots to do: take in the pleasant sights at Diamond Head State Monument, see some colorful creatures with a scuba or snorkeling tour, kick back and relax at Sunset Beach Park, and stroll around Kapiolani Regional Park.
