Step out of the city life by going to Yokohama Nature Sanctuary and Kimono Me. Sensō-ji and Tokyo National Museum will appeal to history buffs. The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Gion and Kiyomizu-dera Temple. Your inner history buff will appreciate Nijo Castle and Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine. Step out of Kyoto to go to Otsu and see Seta Golf Course North Course, which is approximately 40 minutes away. And it doesn't end there: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kinkaku-ji, make a trip to Nishiki Market, contemplate the long history of Sanjusangendo Temple, and stop by Fuuka-Kimono.

You can drive from Takayama to Kyoto in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. Traveling from Takayama in February, expect nights in Kyoto to be about the same, around 1°C, while days are a bit warmer, around 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 29th (Sat) to allow enough time to take a train to Osaka.
