A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Relax by the water at Yonaha Maehama Beach and Toguchi no Hama. Take a break from the city and head to Sunayama Beach and Hora Gyoko no Hama Beach. There's more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Aragusuku Beach and stroll through Sawada no hama Beach.

You can do a combination of flight and train from Ishigaki to Hiroshima in 5.5 hours. Another option is to fly. In January, Hiroshima is much colder than Ishigaki - with highs of 11°C and lows of 2°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 24th (Fri) so you can catch the train to Kyoto.

Step out of the city life by going to Cherry Trees along the Gojo River bank and Mt. Miyaji.
