The castle around which the city of Himeji has developed represents one of the best preserved in the country, and has been designated as a national treasure and a World Heritage Site.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Himeji: Matsue Swimming Beach (in Akashi), Okayama (Okayama Korakuen Garden & Okayama Castle) and Honzanji Temple (in Misaki-cho). The adventure continues: steep yourself in history at Himeji Castle, get engrossed in the history at Shikoku Mura Village, don't miss a visit to Tarumino Ozakura, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Yoneda Taishiji Temple.

Traveling by combination of train and bus from Kanazawa to Hakone-machi takes 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or fly. Traveling from Kanazawa in May, expect nights in Hakone-machi to be a bit warmer, around °C, while days are slightly colder, around °C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 16th (Sun) to allow time to travel to Tokyo.
