You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Take a break from the city and head to Palatinus Strandfürdő and City Park Városliget. You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Tagore Promenade and Priest's Island (Pap-sziget). Change things up with these side-trips from Budapest: Esztergom Basilica / Cathedral (in Esztergom), Eger (Agria Park Shopping Center, Valley of the Beautiful Women, &more) and Szelidi to (in Dunapataj). There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Matthias Church, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika), take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Harmashatarhegy, and identify plant and animal life at Sas Hill Nature Reserve.

To find where to stay, traveler tips, ratings, and tourist information, refer to the Budapest vacation planning site.

Expect a daytime high around 25°C in September, and nighttime lows around 13°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 11th (Sun) so you can travel back home.
