Perched beneath the foothills of several soaring mountains, the town of Minakami-machi provides a picturesque stepping stone from which to explore the dramatic surrounding scenery.
Step out of the city life by going to Oze National Park and Fukiwarenotaki Fall. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Minakami-machi: Kawaba-mura (Kojyu Hotspring, Tsuchida Brewery, & more), Numata (Otone Breweries, Spa Resort Yuniiku, & more) and Katashina-mura (Snowpal Oguna Hotaka & Ozegahara). On the 19th (Fri), spend a day of thorough relaxation at some of the top local onsens. Spend a day outdoors on the 22nd (Mon) with I Love Outdoors Japan. Famous for its Daruma dolls, Takasaki serves as a great stopover town during a trip through Japan.
Tomioka Silk Mill and Kannamachi Dinosaurs Center are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Escape the urban bustle at Lake Haruna and Ikaho Green Farm. Venture out of the city with trips to Maebashi (Genkeiji Temple, Shoda Shoyu Stadium Gunma, & more), Shibukawa (Kajikabashi, Ikaho Shrine 伊香保神社, & more) and Ankodo (in Yoshioka-machi). There's much more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Haruna Shrine, get engrossed in the history at Kanra Town History and Folklore Museum, pause for some photo ops at The monument of Tago (Tagohi), and get lost in a book at Maebashi Bungakukan.
