You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Your inner history buff will appreciate St. Stephen's Basilica (Szent Istvan Bazilika) and Kazinczy utcai Zsinagóga. Step out of the city life by going to Palatinus Strandfürdő and Agostyan Arboretum. Change things up with these side-trips from Budapest: Mineral Museum (in Siofok), Tagore Promenade (in Balatonfured) and Geszler Family Winery (in Mor). There's lots more to do: steep yourself in history at Matthias Church, don't miss a visit to Andrassy Avenue, test the waters at a local thermal spa, and kick back and relax at Roman Beach.

If you are flying in from Palestine, the closest major airport is Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. In August, daily temperatures in Budapest can reach 32°C, while at night they dip to 18°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Tue) so you can travel back home.
