A gateway to a sprawling and diverse national park, a center of Shinto spiritualism and place of Buddhist worship, an emblem of the riches and dominance of the Tokugawa shogunate: Nikko means many things to many people.
On the 29th (Sun), contemplate the long history of Nikko Futarasan jinja, take in the views from Shinkyo Bridge, take in the dramatic scenery at Kegon Falls, thencontemplate the waterfront views at Lake Chuzenji, and finally steep yourself in history at Taiyuimbyo Shrine. On the 30th (Mon), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the dramatic scenery at Ryuzu Waterfall, thenwalk around Nikko Tamozawa Imperial Villa Memorial Park, thencontemplate in the serene atmosphere at Nikko Tosho-gu, and finally soak in some Japanese tradition at some of the top local onsens.

Singapore, Singapore to Nikko is an approximately 12.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and ferry. Traveling from Singapore to Nikko, you'll lose 1 hour due to the time zone difference. Prepare for colder weather when traveling from Singapore in December: high temperatures in Nikko hover around °C and lows are around °C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 30th (Mon) so you can go by car to Mito.

Quaint and historic, Mito serves as the capital of Ibaraki Prefecture, once a castle town and stronghold for the Edo-period Mito clan.
On the 31st (Tue), get to know the fascinating history of Semba Boadwalk, thenlet the kids burn off some steam at Hitachi Seaside Park, thenget up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Aqua World Ibaraki Prefectural Oarai Aquarium, and finally look for gifts at Sun Green Asahi. Traveling from Nikko in December, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be little chillier in Mito, with lows of °C. Though a fairly large city in its own right, Saitama has become known primarily for its proximity to the capital, Tokyo.
Kick off your visit on the 4th (Sat): look for gifts at Machikan Hamono, don't miss a visit to Kawagoe Ichibangai Shopping Street, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kitain, take in the spiritual surroundings of Musashi Ichinomiya Hikawa Shrine, thenstroll around Shimin no Mori, and finally get to know the resident critters at Risu no Ie.
