  • This statue was returned in market Street exactly 40 years ago from Golden Gate Park. the General Figure 7 in the history of the statue plays a big role. War with Mexico, which began after the annexation of Texas, led to the fact that the United States included the current States of New Mexico, Arizona, California, Colorado, Utah and part of Nevada. Mexico, which began fighting in the year 1847, quickly defeated (American troops occupied Mexico City). The Treaty was signed in 1848: Mexico has lost much of its territory. In return, the United States paid Mexico $15 million. and pledged to repay financial claims United States nationals affected by the Mexican Government ($ $3 million). Five years later in 1853 year Mexico again sold the United States portion of their lands (now Southern California and Arizona). The cause was the building of the transcontinental railroad, which was to link the East and West United States. And so in honor of American accession day holiday, celebrated on 9 September, starting with 1850 year here and this statue of Douglas Tilden's, which was established in the year 1897, exactly 120 years ago. I liked the statue itself, that's just the environment It is not the most prosperous.

  • An important symbol, a moment reminiscent of the admission of California to the Union and therefore of great historical significance. It's pretty easy to see and locate walking along market st.. unless you are distracted by other things. interesting.

  • This would be rated higher if it were just in a place where there were more space to appreciate it. Otherwise it's pretty cool
  • Feels a little dangerous at night. Beggers are all around here.
