Pacific Union Club, San Francisco

4.0
The Pacific-Union Club is a social club located at 1000 California Street in San Francisco, California, at the top of Nob Hill. It was founded in 1889 as a merger of two earlier clubs: the Pacific Club (founded 1852) and the Union Club (founded 1854). The clubhouse was built as the home for the silver magnate James Clair Flood. The former Flood Mansion is located in the Nob Hill neighborhood. It was designed by Willis Polk. It is considered the first brownstone constructed west of the Mississippi River. Along with the Fairmont Hotel across the street, it was the only structure in the area to survive the San Francisco earthquake and fire of 1906.
This club figured prominently in the history of the west coast of the United States. Many prominent citizens have been active among its membership.

  • I went to May 2018. It is a majestic building in Nob Hill. It seems to be a member-based club, but the Brown building is a knob hill where the rich gather. If you're not a member, of course you can't go inside, but you've just seen the look of Knob Hill.

  • I started working at this beautiful place around the same time as Kryst and Lindsey got married. I liked working there so much that I stayed at the job for over a decade of service! Great place to work and visit!
  • I'm just rating it because it's there. I have no idea what it is or what people do there. It might be the world headquarters of the Illuminati, I wouldn't know. Some other review mentioned burritos, and poop smoothies so there you have it
