Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hanoi

3.8
Erected on the spot from which the legendary Vietnamese leader proclaimed the country's independence, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum serves as the final resting place of the leader's mummified body. Although the beloved "Uncle Ho" wished to be cremated, his followers decided to put his embalmed remains in a glass case. Today, his pale body lies exposed to the views of devoted pilgrims and curious tourists moving slowly in endless rows during most of the year--except for a period when it gets sent to Russia for conservation. The building--inspired by the Lenin's mausoleum in Moscow--was erected in the early 1970s. Inquire about proper etiquette before you enter--keep your hands out of your pockets, do not hold up the line, and don't attempt to take photographs. • Iconic building of the city, built by the Russians and inaugurated in 1975. To see the remains of Ho Chí Minh you have to get up early and withstand long queues and several hours to enter. Usually visited by the Vietnamese themselves.

  • Amazing to be able to see Ho Chi Minh. Be sure to dress appropriately and review the entry rules. I would suggest bringing as little as possible. There is a bag check, metal detector and ALL cameras must be checked. Viewing time is early morning, and the line will start to form at least an hour before. I arrived around 9am, and the entire process took about two hours. An entirely unique experience. Would recommend!
  • Inside this place there’s a lot of things to see. Huge Mausoleum surrounded by a lot of flora. You will see beautiful lake inside. Place where Ho chi minh used to stay , all the cars that he used , place where he used to meet guests. Library , work area , garden and many more. Entry to the Mausoleum is free but to see other areas like one pillar pagoda and lake there’s a fee of 40,000 dong. They give you a booklet which is helpful in knowing the area and things to see inside.
